Pillar Candles Explained

When it comes to creating an enchanting ambiance and adding a touch of sophistication to any space, few decorative elements can rival the timeless elegance of pillar candles. These versatile candles have been used for centuries, transcending trends and fads, they continue to captivate with their simplicity. Traditionally un-fragranced, pillar candles were used to provide light before electricity was invented, however in more recent years, we have seen growing popularity with scented pillar candles. Whether adorning a dinner table, enhancing a relaxing bath, or providing a warm glow during special occasions, pillar candles effortlessly infuse any setting with charm and tranquility

What are pillar candles?

Pillar candles are typically made from a hard mineral wax to allow the candle to standalone and not be held within a glass or ceramic container. Whilst pillar candles made from natural wax do exist, we have found that the burn and diffusion isn't as good as those made from paraffin wax.

It is only in recent years that scented pillar candles have come into existance. However, due to how they are made, the amount of fragrance that can be included is lower than you would find with containerised candles. This is mainly due to stability of the candle, as the hard wax that is used doesn't hold fragrance and extra oils as well.

Pillar candles come in various sizes and shapes, allowing you to create diverse arrangements. Choose pillar candles in colours that compliment your existing decor or opt for classic white for an elegant and timeless look. Experiment with different hues to create a vibrant and visually captivating display.

How to look after a pillar candle?

Whichever pillar candle you choose, don't forget to take good care of them! Not only will it help them to last longer and keep your home smelling sensational, but will ensure that they burn safely in your home.

To ensure a clean and long-lasting burn, they should always be placed on a heat resistant surface away from any drafts or heat sources. This is to protect the surface from any wax that spills. All our candles are developed to burn evenly, but it is extremely important to always follow our candle care advice to make sure you get the best out of them.
